tiffanysuexx 2 Posted January 5, 2015 Hi everyone! My surgery is next week and I'm super excited. I'm not nervous at all as far as the operation goes--the journey afterward, now that's another story (I had a brain tumor removed 11/27/13, so this operation is menial to me, no offense) I'm just worried about excess skin and eating the wrong things at the wrong times. Any support would be appreciated. Guys or girls ???? Xo Tiff
lulalove 12 Posted January 5, 2015 Good Luck Tiffany! It is a journey and lap band is a tool. I am still trying to manage my tool being a bit over a month post op. Julie
staceylc 3 Posted January 8, 2015 It definitely will take a little bit getting used to especially when it comes to eating. I think my biggest challenge now is getting enough Protein in and finding things that won't make me sick to eat but I would do this all over again in a heartbeat if I had to. Good luck to you and let us know how it goes!
lulalove 12 Posted January 16, 2015 Hi Tiffany, how did your surgery go?
tiffanysuexx 2 Posted January 16, 2015 Hi thanks for checking in! Surgery went well but I'm super discouraged/down by the amount of pain I'm in. ???? help. I feel so helpless. I can't even shower by myself. Ugh.
lulalove 12 Posted January 16, 2015 Congrats for the first step. Where is the pain? It may be gas pain that they pump you with. Get yourself Gas-X strips pronto!!! they really do help after a few. Wander why doctors forget to mention (mine did to me, but told my sis). Also there is shoulder pain. That will last up to 5-6 weeks Did they give you liquid Tylenol with Codeine? Don't skip out
tiffanysuexx 2 Posted January 16, 2015 I'm not sure if it's gas pain. My side hurts really bad by the suture when I breathe in. I feel like I can't take deep breaths. Thanks for your help!
lulalove 12 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) Try Gas X they have the strips that melt in your mouth. Edited January 16, 2015 by lulalove
tgarner6 3 Posted January 23, 2015 Hey Tiffany (my names Tiffany too, by the way ). I hope things have improved for you over the past few days! I'm two and a half weeks post-op from my roux-en-y bypass. I promise you it gets better every day. I practically don't have any pain at all anymore. I was really discouraged in the beginning as well and wondered what in the world I'd done to myself, but now my life is returning to normal and I'm down 24.2 pounds! If you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to message me, or I can give you my email if you'd like hang in there!
tgarner6 3 Posted January 23, 2015 And the deep breathes will actually help it heal quicker. So will walking around. Walk as much as you can make yourself.
