vegas2013 12 Posted January 5, 2015 A friend of mine had the sleeve she had it on the third of December. She is so depressed she left her family for the day and checked into a hotel. Is this normal?
CaliGirl1216 25 Posted January 5, 2015 Depression can come with it, yes I would say that is normal. I'm sure it is temporary. Sometimes we go into shock after surgery, once we finally realize what we've done to our bodies. That may cause the depression and/or she may just need more time to heal her mind and spirit after what she has been through.
weezieweeks 2 Posted January 5, 2015 There are so many changes that take place, especially in the beginning, that our journey can be very overwhelming. Families can be the most difficult to understand and for them to understand us. Postoperatively, the anesthesia, the change in diet, as well as not being able "eat" much, if you are following a plan, can leave us vulnerable to our feelings. I know for myself, I could previously stuff those feelings away with food. If it was my friend, I would encourage her to talk - even if it does not make sense, talking is a way of expressing those feelings and she can talk long enough to get to what is bothering her. Thank goodness for my friends that would remind me to talk and not keep it all in, so I wanted to pass along the advice.
nikki9 70 Posted January 5, 2015 I'm 9 weeks post op and I'm still in a fog of depression that I have to fight. I seem to want to be alone a lot more than usual.
