Starting over...

Recommended Posts

I was banded in 2010. I went from 253 to 160. I had maintained my weightloss until about a year sgo when I had to have an emergency total hysterectomy. After that surgery I gained about ten lbs and then it kinda steadied outn over the last six months I have been dealing with some relationship issues and am now single again. I recently stepped on the scale to realize ive gained another 10 or so lbs. Realizing ive slipped back into some bad habbits because all that goes down when I am stressed are sliders. So, im teying to get back into eating right, like I should. I feel like im starting over again. I need some tips for getting back on track and for high protien foods that wont stick. Any help and support is appreciated!

Welcome back!

re: "need some tips for getting back on track and for high protien foods that wont stick. Any help and support is appreciated!" you've done well before and now don't have the distractions of not being sure how Bandster lifestyle actually works day-to-day.

What works best for *me* is to keep my head down & taking each day with MOST steps in the right direction.

cheers on your new journey

I am working on starting over also. I have had to go right back to basics and start just short of mushies.

Basically, I have been lazy and not eating slow or taking small bites either. I believe allot of the foods getting stuck are my own fault, if I own up to it.

There is a lady on Facebook called "lap band girl" and I clicked like on her a while ago, and kept rolling my eyes at her (maybe for succeeding) but she takes the time to exercise, to weigh in once a week, and constantly she uses the word "ACCOUNTABILITY" .

It was driving me up, but I never unlike her. Recently I kept thinking about this. Like when I am stuck-is it the foods fault. Actually I really shouldn't be eating it, and I didn't take a small bite, and I certainly didn't chew correctly.

I always really want to be smaller, but I have so much struggle keeping my head in the game too!

Good luck!

As for high Protein, fish, chicken, Protein drinks (pure Protein is excellent) and edameme ....

There is a protein and nutrition forum too. :-) Good luck!

Hi s_suther, I will try to find it. I am not very great finding my way around the forum.

I usually can't even get back to posts I want to go respond to later. LoL. I found your post, but not on the APP.

I didn't realize I was so out of touch. Ha ha

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
