Hello everyone/anyone???

I was sleeved in December 2012. Initially, I lost 45 pounds, but suffered with severe reflux. An endoscopy revealed that my pouch was twisting and I had surgery to straighten it. Reflux was significantly reduced. No other major problems, just that I cannot seem to stay focused on doing all of the things I need to do to lose weight. I am disappointed in myself that I had this surgery and failed to be consistent and have gained back the weight. Is it too late? In another post, I read about the 5 day pouch…something or another. I guess is going back to the liquid diet? I am not sure. If anyone can assist me with this, I would really appreciate it. It is 2015 and I have made the decision to get back on the wagon and get healthy. I am a mother of three (ages 19, 9 and 7) and a professor at a community college. My life is very busy. I have made the commitment to take care of myself and do what I need to do to feel great and be around for my children.

Thanks for reading this post and I appreciate any feedback!

Kudos to you for your overall re- commitment to you, which is an important step to take. Was there a nutritionist that you worked with prior to and/or after your 2012 procedure? If so get in to see them again, I'm sure they would be happy to see you, and if not call your bariatric surgeron's office for a referral to a nutritionist as I think that is your healthiest first step back into your re-dedication. Good luck, and stick to your guns. Also remember all the reasons why you made your initial decision for having surgery to start with.

Thanks to both of you for your encouragement. This is my first time using this forum and digital communication in this format. I was so surprised to get a response so quickly. This is awesome! Thanks again!

@@livlife We all have our different paths, and you started out with a few speed bumps to say the least!! I can totally understand where you are coming from and applaud you for acknowledging that as well and making a commitment to yourself to getting back on track.

I have to do this with myself nearly every day!! If I don't then I can find myself in a tail spin out of control and looking for who's head I can chop off as the guilty party!!! In the end I know that it's all me. Yes I might have some real complications along the way and it sounds as if you totally did. So don't beat yourself up, just pick yourself up dust yourself off, today is a new day and another opportunity to make reach your goals.

I find that if I set mini goals daily for myself I feel great when I accomplish them and I take note of the reasons why I wasn't able to if I don't. Sometimes I am too aggressive with myself and my goals and I have to reassess and revamp them a few times before I can cross the finish line.

The five day pouch reset is a good way to start. I am banded, but when I know I have gotten off track and lost sight of things, the best thing for me to do is to get back to the basics and reset. Not just my body, but my mind as well.

I know you can do this, and @@gowalking is right you will find lots of support among the members of this site!!!

Best of luck to you and Happy New Year!

As I see it, it's not complicated: count 60 - 80 grams of Protein and at least 64 oz. liquids per day. Look on the blog, "The World According to Eggface" for some tasty Protein meals and treats (including ice cream!). I think that, if you keep it tasty and interesting, it's no problem to stick to the good stuff.

I suggest the book "Emotional First Aid" by Cynthia Alexander (the bariatric one). It's really helped me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
