VSGmary 418 Posted March 23, 2015 @Elode thanks for the tip on vitacost.. they deliver to Australia and pretty reasonable prices! I just ordered 2 boxes of Quest bars - choc chip cookie dough and Cookies and cream - all Quest bars are currently on 25% off! I was tempted to purchase Syntrax nectar from there but I have one tub coming to me via another source but I will be using vitacost in future .. the shipping to Australia 5 - 9 days with tracking for $15.99 is amazing!! SeahawksFan 444 Posted March 23, 2015 I really like the Power Crunch bars. They taste more like a cookie as they have a wafer in them. Totally different then Quest. I really like the mint choc, peanut choc, Cookies and cream, and vanilla. I keep them in the freezer. You can buy individual ones at GNC and Walmart to taste them and buy them in bulk on Amazon.< /p> Protein powder: I use the Premier ready made (Choc and Vanilla) and then I also have GENEPRO in my coffee every morning before my workout and I also use Shakeology Vanilla and throw in some frozen blueberries and strawberries. ~LA
LSF 264 Posted March 24, 2015 @@phillyfan99 I drink the ready made Premier Protein drinks (chocolate) you can buy them at Walmart but I get the 12 packs at SAMs. I've been drinking them since pre-op.They have 30 grams of Protein per shake and 1g sugar. I agree with the Premier Protein. I've been drinking them since 2008. costco also sells them by the case. I get the chocolate & vanilla. They also have a Strawberries & Cream but I don't want a case I'll have to look for it at Walmart
FinallyFit50s 202 Posted March 24, 2015 I haven't had Protein Bars since before surgery and they got to the point that they were "drier than a fart." I'm on the iPad app and it sucks trying to quote folks, sorry if I got it wrong. I bought Click coffee Protein Drinks and LOVE them. Premier Protein RTD's and Gold Standard 100% Protein Powder from costco they are my standards. Time to add in bars, thinking the Cookies and cream ones sound good. emtscott54 108 Posted March 24, 2015 I am just a newbie pre-op but I have been using GNC Iso-define powder in Swiss chocolate. I can get 30 grams of Protein for 225 calories and it tastes pretty good.

That was how I sampled which ones I liked As for Protein Bars, I like the Luna bars. Great for a snack!
Dave in SoCal 13 Posted March 25, 2015 For Protein powder I have been using the Isopure Low Carb Dutch chocolate. You get 25g Protein at just 110 calories. It melts pretty good into cold water/crushed ice in a shaker cup and appeals to my kid-like desire for chocolate milk. They estimate it has about 42 1-scoop servings (for the 3lb container), so for $43 on Amazon that works out to about a buck a shake and that appeals to me too. It does have artificial sweeteners which I am not a big fan of, but nothing will be perfect. The only other powder I have tried are samples of Bariatric Advantage (chocolate, orange cream, and strawberry) powder that were given out a support group meeting I attended. Their version of chocolate was richer, creamier and had a very faint aftertaste. I could see why people might like this more, but I still prefer the lighter taste of the Isopure.< /p>
ebrannon 0 Posted March 26, 2015 I am using Protein bars for meal sub or afternoon snack, but all the ones I have tried are super sweet tasting and coated with chocolate. Dies anyone know of a bar with 20 BM Protein that is nuts, fruits, and whole grains? Not so sweet tasting. I am trying to not eat so much artificial sweeteners. Bluesea71 698 Posted March 26, 2015 Phillyfan are you pre or post surgery? I would suggest not buying too much of anything if you haven't had surgery yet. My tastes completely changed after surgery. I gag If I eat anything chocolate post surgery so my favorite Quest bar is the apple pie flavor. I loved those wafer crisp bars someone mentioned above pre-surgery and now they just sit in my stomach like a rock. Buy a few sample flavors and then invest in a box once you find flavors you like! As an alternative, GNC has their own Protein Bar I like that has more of a dense cake texture. 30 grams of Protein but a whopping 400 calories. I will only eat half of one of those and only on occasion. I like the cinnamon bun flavor.

My Nut recommends Unjury protein powder and I thought it was pretty good before surgery. I ordered more for after surgery and now I can barely get it down because my tastes have changed. I use Pure Protein bars.
