I do now, at almost 9 years post-op. I didn't the first Christmas! I was about 7 months post-op that year and allowed myself a taste of everything but was able to control my overall intake. But knowing you lost control helps you work out how to handle it next holiday! And you may not have good restriction yet which makes it harder.

Don't feel bad I did too. But I've been working out like crazy for the past 4 days.

I went to Disney World week of December 6 through 12th. Came back and worked for a week then had another two off for Christmas, New Years vacation. I ate what I wanted and when I wanted all while listening to my band but I did eat things I typically do not eat. Cookies, candy and a bit of fried food. I have to say while it tasted it good man it did it leave me bogged down and lethargic at times.

Thankfully I am back to my clean ways and the scale was actually at a new low for me yesterday.

I always eat anything I want, when I want. I'm am not on any diets anymore. And I thoroughly enjoyed the holidays with all the parties and family get togethers

Diets were torture...surgery is liberating!

I also drank my share, perhaps more than my share. I enjoyed myself!

Difference is, with the Lap band, I still eat what I want, but now I can only eat a fraction of what I used to when I was fat. It is impossible for me to over eat, and there are certain foods I will never eat again. (unless I want to pay the consequences, but I have learned my lessons the hard way)

My only concern is that for 2 weeks or so, I ate a lot of foods not that healthy or nutritious....so I'm back to being a health nut...all natural unprocessed foods, and no meat.

But hey...it was my favorite time of the year...and in my case, it's a new lifestyle that makes me skinny...not a party here and there for 2 weeks or so.

But I have also been banded for 4 years...in my first year it would have been a different story altogether because I was still learning, still adjusting to the bands adjustments.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
