I use powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein powder and Celebrate powder. You can buy both online.

~In the morning I feel my 24 oz Water bottle up.

~Make an 8 oz Protein Drink add in Calcium citrate crystals. It's hard for me to chew the Calcium pills as they are huge and chalky.

~I then Lay out multi Vitamin, thyroid medicine, birth control, B1, Biotin, Prilosec, and each time I take a sip of Water I take a pill that is a capsule. The multi Vitamin is chewable and I have a lot easier time eating once I split it in 4ths.

It takes me 4 hours to get 8 oz down of Protein. Once that is down I focus on just getting in water and other clear fluids.

~Once 1 or 2 o'clock hits I make my second protein and add in the calcium crystals. I also mix my protein with lactaid milk as I have become lactose intolerant after surgery!

~Around 5 pm I take my other multi vitamin and chew up a calcium. ~Around 8 pm I take an Iron as you have to wait 2 hours after taking calcium as it interacts with eachother.

It's a busy day keeping up with protein, water, and Vitamins but totally doable. :) My water goal is 64 oz and protein is 60 grams. I forgot the mention I am 5 days post op RNY.

I am a month out and things have pretty much been like this: I wake up and drink Water, I am constantly thirsty. Some days I get in my Multivitamin but others not. I find it unbearable to eat. I take my other Vitamins throughout the day. I am looking forward to being able to swallow my Vitamins soooo much.

I will usually eat about 4 oz Protein shake in the am, a 1/4 cup Soup in the afternoon, and two bites of egg in the pm.

I try and drink Water and other Fluid all day long, it's very hard.

I have no physical desire for food but mentally I want it just the same. I miss it and feel sad my stomach is so different now.

At the same time I like the weight loss and look forward to progressing my diet which still seems impossible.

It feels like I have a stomach bug for life. Be ready to give up eating it is so hard some days.

I just wanted to add this as I am an example of someone who is having a harder time.

I have lost 30 pounds in 4 weeks.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
