About 6 weeks out and back to life

Recommended Posts

Monday makes 6 weeks. While I wish I could say i have lost a ton of lbs so far but only 24. Which is fine. I know things will keep moving along as long as I do my part. The great news is if was able to resume my position in my volunteer fire department. Meaning my dr completely cleared me. I've been back to my regular job for a while. But I am a licensed emt for my local fire department. And it's very physical work. I started back on 1/1 and have been on a few calls. My strength is some what low but I feel much more nimble in my ambulance. I am so glad to be back out there. And feels good having more breathing room in my uniform. Love to hear how others are feeling

I just had my sleeve 1-5-15 and although my doctor and I discussed going back to work that was before he injured my spleen :/ I may need to take another week off just to be ok. This really hurts.

oh no that's horrible. I ended up taking 3 weeks off. I got an infection at my incision site that they removed my band and stomach. I needed every minute of that 3 weeks. Take as much time as you need. Rushing just delays healing.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
