Sleeved on 12/3/14 having morning nausea issues.

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 12/3/14. Spent two days in the hospital following surgery. Began nausea and vomiting and returned went to the ER 3 days later to be admitted to the hospital where I stayed for 6 days. Scans & xrays showed a small bowel blockage, however, Dr insisted I did not have a blockage because I could go potty. I have another xray scheduled Tues. Dr thinks it may be scar tissue that may have kinked. Currently I'm down 19lbs. Oh, I also had a pretty good sized hernia repaired, so I have been limited to what I can do. My current issue is I still have nausea but only in the mornings. I have a prescription for the nausea but am reluctant to continue taking it as the Dr. wants me to be able to not have to take it. I have issues with the Protein drinks - I'm a texture girl and can feel the powder and grit found in most of the Protein Drinks, I'm also lactose intolerant. I'm feeling pretty low right now emotionally and would appreciate your all's thoughts.

I suggest trying powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and mixing it in a blender. It has a good clean taste and no grit.

I suggest eating a butter cracker before you get up.

1. Any chance you might be pregnant? Just asking.[ i.e., possibly conceived just prior to surgery date?]

2. Also, [not saying you have it, of course, but just an FYI]...people may get a partial bowel obstruction, in which patients may still pass some stool.

I would continue the anti-nausea meds until you see the doc on Tues. Perhaps try some of the RTD shakes. I use CVS whey Protein with almond milk and find that blends really well even if I just shake it up in my shaker bottle.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you all. I picked up a pkg of Atkins to try and I'm going to go get some unjury to try. I feel so low emotionally I just want to cry. I go back to work on Tuesday and I'm nervous about it. My stomach feels like it is quivering a lot of the time. Did any of you get that? And, what did you do about it?

Forgot to answer one of your questions - not pregnant, that I know for sure.

Some people experience stomach spasms. If you think you are having that your doctor can prescribe something for it. Mostly just try to rest and gets your fluids in.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
