ls27 12 Posted January 3, 2015 The first meeting with my surgeon they gave me a date. Does that mean i am approved? That was the beginning of december. I finished all my testing this week and going back Wednesday Jan 7 and am sccheduled for the 26th
Aranks 94 Posted January 3, 2015 It means they dont foresee an issue with you getting approved. Both the insurance company and your surgeon will call to let you know. I thought having a date meant i was approved but probably about two weeks after all my clearances were done I received a call from my surgeon and that night from bcbs. Then they follow up with a letter that I actually didnt receive until after surgery.
ls27 12 Posted January 3, 2015 Oh wow okay so I have a lower end bmi and no records for 3 years showing it. Also if I needed the 6 month pre diet would they have told me that before hand? My surgeons office seems very together and organized. They gave me all the info I needed right away.
Aranks 94 Posted January 3, 2015 Yeah. You have NYSHIP right? Insurance through a state employee. The empire plan? We didn't need a supervised diet plan. Just get our clearance testing done and the recommendation of the surgeon. Not sure with the lower BMI mine was exactly 40. But a low bmi with a comorbity I know you dont need anything else either. Aranks 94 Posted January 4, 2015 I have my insurance under my dad still (NYCT) more than likely they're the same. My doctor was ecstatic I had this insurance because its much easier for approval. No supervised visits. Was able to be approved from start to finish in a month.

CE24 23 Posted February 1, 2015 I have the Empire Plan NYSHIP and was approved in less than 24 hours from when my surgeons office submitted my paperwork. I saw my surgeon for an initial consult on Dec. 18th and my surgery is scheduled for Feb. 24th. Very smooth process and I was approved through Insure Nutrition for Premier Protein shakes (4 cases per month), scar cream, and a metabolic supplement that is suppose to give you energy and boost your metabolism I'm receiving these all for free from the insurance company.
