With my band date around the corner, can you guys tell me how you handle eating in social settings? Like eating out with co-workers, resturants in general, or parties, etc. Thanks,

I haven't had any problem. I really thought I would.

If it is a buffet style , I just get a SMALL amount of anything I want and just pick around on it.

If it is a meal (like a luncheon I recently went to) I just pick around on it.

No one really comments because they are too busy eating. As long as you have food on your plate ......

Now at first when I was banded that was different. I just had on my plate what I could eat. I probably could have put some more on it and it would have not been so noticeable . I could have put some salad or maybe something I really didn't care for.

I know this sound wasteful and all those starving children....

One more point I want to make. Your cravings and desire for food changes. I remember the first family dinner I had to go to very soon after getting banded (I'm guessing 3 wks after). I whined to my hubby.

How could I go with all that good food. I didn't want to go and told him so. He says well if you eat and get full what is the problem? He was so

right. In the first months I did find myself looking pretty hard at food in social situations but now I look at it , get some (band size of course) if I want it and then I swear I dont give it another thought. I love my new relationship with food.

I enjoy social situations so much more now. I guess before food bugged me and I would also have in the back of my mind that people with me sure knew why I was so heavy . Like when I worked in a office I would eat 2 doughnuts instead of one like others for example.

Hope this helps ,

edie
