Diane Grimm 19 Posted January 2, 2015 Has anyone taken Metamucil capsules during their Pre-op diet?
Pac-woman 325 Posted January 2, 2015 Hello there. I actually started to add Benefiber powder to my Protein shakes. The reason for this, not only will it make you feel full (besides the protein) but it will regulate you. I noticed on my first day of pre-op diet that my stool became runny by the end of the night. Then runny the next day. Well, you know what they say...liquid in, liquid out. So I decided to start adding Fiber to it and so far it has helped my stool issue. I am no longer runny. May happen once in a while of course because your body is burning fat and releasing chemicals in your blood. With that being said, drink lots of Water. You can put the tasteless powder in Water as well. This is the one I am talking about: http://www.soap.com/p/benefiber-unflavored-stick-packs-unflavored-1113464?site=CA&sku=ANV-163&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc_S&utm_campaign=GooglePLA&utm_content=pla&ca_sku=ANV-163&ca_gpa=pla&ca_kw=&CAWELAID=500001850000501913&kpid=ANV-163 Goodluck! BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted January 2, 2015 I didn't have a pre-op diet. I was just told to increase my Protein and cut back my calories. I ate regular meals until the day before surgery. I then did all liquids until it was time to stop eating.
Diane Grimm 19 Posted January 2, 2015 Lucky duck. I have an all liquid diet for the next 25 days.
shizwiz 197 Posted January 2, 2015 I have Metamucil capsules and started my first day of pre-op diet today. I got the generic Equate kind. I am getting sleeved in MX and my surgeon's pre-op diet packet said I could take one per day if I wanted to help with hunger. I have been using shakes for lunch for about the last month just to get a feel for things and have used the capsules a few times. I think they make me feel a bit fuller for longer- or it could be in my head. I plan on using them for the next 2 weeks, though! They do not make me feel an urge to 'go' at work- which I was really afraid of. Happy New Year!
Pac-woman 325 Posted January 3, 2015 25 days liquid diet is so unrealistic if you ask me. I mean, come on. These doctors know that we already have a eating disorder of sorts. What makes them think that we can do 25 days liquid only at 100%? Really. The body goes into shock I think. I have 14 days of liquid only. I have to admit, i snuck in Soup with light noodles (very little) so I can function. I know 5 days before the surgery I will buckle down and do shakes only. But that will be very hard. I suffer from headaches as it is and doing math all day on shake nutrition is going to suck big time. Not to mention I will have an interview as well. I am going to sound like a babbling idiot I am sure. lol
Diane Grimm 19 Posted January 3, 2015 @@Pac-woman I totally agree that my liquid diet is too long. But the surgeon wants me to lose 20 lbs by surgery date.
