NewBeginning2015 46 Posted January 4, 2015 Great tip, @Mike4132 ! I will try that too. @@lynziv, I do think that moving will help you feel a bit better. I have been walking every day since surgery, first only about a block but now I am up to a mile. I go very slowly and it hurts more in the beginning but then seems to feel better. Maybe a combo of increased movement and more Protein will help give you that extra push to heal, sleep, (and normalize your BMs too!). Also forgot to mention, but if you use blender balls for your shakes, they have sleeves that you can buy which insulate and help keep the shake cold. They seem to help. Good luck -- and congrats on the loss, too! So exciting, and makes all the discomfort worth it!
Packerfan61964 293 Posted January 4, 2015 I know it is different for men and women but I easily get in 100grams of Protein a day. I buy New whey liquid Protein. It has 42 grams of Protein per a 3.8 fl oz bottle. $2.68 a bottle a Walmart. It comes in different flavors and I mix it with crystal light mio or propel of similar flavor. GOOD LUCK!!!! ashleyxx 277 Posted January 4, 2015 I wouldn't be that worried about hittinf your Protein goals this early out, main thing is to stay hydrated. Alot of us were still on a liquid diet at the time and with how little we could sip we weren't hitting those protein goals yet.
lynziv 32 Posted January 5, 2015 Ok here is the next question: I'm not having to much pain with the incisions, the bulk of my pain is where my overy which is weird b/c I had a hysterectomy. But that overy is still there. For some reason I doubt that this surgery has anything to do with my ovary but I'm not sure why I'm having so much pain there do you think that it could be related or is it something different altogether. Keeps me up all night and threw out the day. Omg I feel like I'm being a big cry baby and normally I handle pain pretty well

kikicoates78 220 Posted January 5, 2015 I drink my shake with crushed ice every morning. I like it watered down a bit as its a bit rich. And I like munching ice. AND it also helps with my Fluid intake. I keep crushed ice and some drink at all times.

BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted January 5, 2015 That first big weight loss within the first 2 weeks post op is mostly Water weight. It's not uncommon to see big crazy numbers.
DarleneCh 9 Posted January 5, 2015 What absolutely saved me - GENEPRO. I bought it at Amazon. It is quite expensive but worth every penny. It is a powder that really is tasteless. You can add it to cold or warm things. Mixes extremely well with potato Soup, sugar free hot chocolate. I would not be getting my Protein in without it. Good luck! mjmboston 33 Posted January 5, 2015 @@lynziv Congrats on your surgery. I am 3 weeks post-op today. I had the same kind of pain you are explaining, I think it was the gas they fill you up with, i never got the shoulder pain everyone talks about, mine settled in my pelvic area and had bad pain there, but it went away after the first week, or maybe even sooner. Congrats again on the start of your new journey!
kimdlawson06 141 Posted January 9, 2015 Thank you for that. I'm 5 days post op I have no energy and I can't sleep at night. did you experience that I'm 9 days out and just really regained my energy! I know it sucks but I've found that hydrating was the key. I had a really hard time taking on anything for the first 4-5 days.
lynziv 32 Posted January 11, 2015 13 days post op. I'm feeling much better. I'm having a hard time exercising. Bla I can't get motivated to walk more than 15 minutes. I have lost 12 lbs. And I'm already trying to cheat on cheatable foods. Foe example with Jello I'm adding whipped cream. Yesterday I hosted a baby shower and had the cream filling of a cake. Not much just a couple bits. But still you would think after all I have been through cheating would not be an option for me. OMG I'm such a food addict. But how the heck do you go to a party and not want to eat the food they have there especially when there's nothing there you can eat. I'm very disappointed I'm myself. Perhaps eating before you go so you're too full to eat at the party? Or help organize and run the events so you're too busy to eat. Or bring a safe snack like a fruit tray and only nibble on that. However if you're really concerned, it may be time to seek counseling. WLS is only going to help so much. You have to be able to put in the work as well.
