Protein and fluids is something you just have to continually work on. It will get easier over time. I eat 3oz per meal normally I Weigh everything with my scale. I don't really use a measuring cup. I track everything with my "lose it" tracker. 1/2 cup sounds about right. @@JenniferKnaack1113

I am day 18 and have same issue. Its a full time job. There do not seem to be enough hours to take everything in. But as Elode says, I guess it gets better with time.

My dietitian suggested about 4 tablespoons per meal. I just started with soft/purees yesterday and am DEFINITELY not getting that in. Maybe 2-3 tablespoons tops. In fact I have gone back to soups/broths for lunch each day because Breakfast is not going down well. I really think it just depends on what you're ready for when you're ready for it first, and second I would call someone at your surgeon's office to ask them for advice about how much you should be taking in. You're only a couple weeks out from surgery (like me) and I personally would be scared I am taking in too much at once. Especially with the solids/semi-solids. For liquids, I am told 64 ounces of Fluid total (including my Protein supplement) and about 60 g of Protein (supplements only, not including other sources of protein) per day.

Had surgery on Dec. 16th, and began eating puréed on the 14th day. I started with just 2 ounces...after it took me 3 hours to get up the courage. It took me 30 minutes and I didn't experience any problems. Yesterday I added an additional ounce and still no problem. But, I also make sure not to drink 30 minutes before or after, and I take 30 minutes to eat. I am sure I can eat 4 ounces but I'm not sure if I should.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
