Feeling bloated after surgery

Recommended Posts

Did anyone else feel bloated in their abdominal area after their lap band surgery? I swear my stomach is bigger than it was before I had the surgery. It feels tight and I can't tell if the sharp pains are from the surgical sites or if it's air. I just feel icky. I'm only three days post-op and wondering how I'm going to fit into dress pants when I go back to work on Monday because my stomach feels like it's as big as a horse's.

I had the sleeve on 12/17 and I was super bloated and swollen. it only lasted about 4-5 days. but if you're allowed, I'd definitely try the gas x strips!! worked wonders for me. good luck!

Sprain your ankle and what happens? It gets swollen! Fluid from the body rushes to that area that needs healing (in simple terms)

Now think about what you just went through with surgery and the injury that has caused, and the healing the body needs to do.

It's probably still the gas they put in your body cavity to make your skin puff up out of the area they're working in.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
