I had Alcohol tonight. I get so drunk so quick now. I'm glad I'm at home and well I had some bubbly so no idea but I'm sure I fell off my diet tonight... and I had a whole box of nerds.

Happy New Year!

@@pinkbunies Well sounds like you enjoyed that! Guess I'll hold off on the vodka and cranberry juice until I can be in a social setting that way I'm sure to make a complete ass of myself and it will be just like old times, nobody will know I had surgery! Since I can't eat in front of people without them asking questions. Now I will just drink! (I'm totally kidding...sorta)Happy New Years!!

LOL. It was also my first carbonated beverage. I was scared. I survived.

I hate people thinking I'm going to eat 5 lbs of food, then they look at me weird when I say I'm full.

Oh I screw with everybody I just don't order anything to eat...and if my hair starts falling out with my weigh loss I'm sure to get sad face's and pampered because I'm almost positive people will assume I have some terminal disease. I shall set up a fund and use the money for plastic surgery! Suckas!!! Believe that! ;)-

@@pinkbunies Oh and congrats on killing the "you will explode if you drink a carbonated beverage" myth!

My hair is thinning. :( I'm taking Vitamins like crazy and everything else. Damn body changes. I like your idea... people are jerks and will assume. Wonder if this would lead me to larger tips? I could just let people lead the story and let them believe what they want... and then I could get those wrinkles around my eyes removed... I like the way you think.

yeah I've avoided all carbonated beverages. I've also avoided caffeine like the plague but oh I miss it. I love i when the waiter/waitress thinks the food was bad because I couldn't finish it.

Carbonated anything can stretch the stomach. I prefer to stay away from all of it

I avoided alcohol for about 2 months until I was sure my stomach was healed. Now I sip a bourbon and Water and it lasts a long time! No beer no bubbly. Wine tastes like cr*p, Bloody Mary's made from scratch are YUM, don't like the premade mixes, too much salt and pepper. coffee I have drunk since day 1, limited amounts, usually just 1 cup in the morning, sometimes 2.

Alcohol doesn't affect me any differently than pre-op.

But then I've never had more than a single drink since surgery.

Serious question, pinkbunnies -- how many drinks did you have? ;) I'm going to be in a situation in about four weeks where I'll likely have more than one drink. I'd like to know what could happen after that.

I had a sip of White wine at a Christmas lunch and a sip of Pino last night. I usually never drink much pre-op anyway but it's great to have a sip like that hehe.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
