Hey everyone I was sleeved on the 23rd of December and I have my first doctors appointment on the 6th of January and I'm drinking all my liquids and Protein but still feeling hungry. I see many people who can't even drink Water meanwhile I'm not having no issues drinking anything I just feel like I wanna advance to the next phrase. Tell me what I should do?

The first two weeks I had what I thought was hunger but was a combination of acid and lingering gas. I had rumbles in my stomach, but they weren't hunger. What is your post op diet? Mine was Clear Liquids one week then full liquids the second week.

Follow your doc's instructions!

(Unless you got an MD degree when they took out 85% of your stomach) ;)

Definitely follow doctor's orders. Though it may not feel like it, your new stomach is still very fragile this soon after surgery. Do not do anything that could possibly cause damage. If you are not already taking omeprazole (Prilosec), that may help with the hunger feelings. Just be sure to crush them first.

Definitely stay on full liquids. Keep in mind that fluids pretty much go straight through you right now so you probably won't get a full feeling or much restriction until you start eating foods. However, keep that healthy fear of messing something up. The first weeks and following the post op diet are crucial to recovery.

I never threw up. :-)

I have the same issue. I'm 3 weeks out, I take my Omeprozale and still am quite hungry. I would even go as far to say that I'm "starving". I was looking forward to not having these hunger pains after surgery. I guess it does not happen for everyone. I just don't see how I'm so hungry w most of my stomach removed

Talk to your doctor. You may want to change the time you take the omeprazole. It took a while for me to recognize true hunger. I was over the full liquids after a week but I just hung in there with it because I realized I was paying (via insurance) this program a lot of money to give me these instructions. I just sucked it up and did as I was told.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
