JerseyJules 862 Posted December 31, 2014 I almost lost my house tonight as a result of being ignorant and not cleaning my dryer vents regularly. The ling clogged up and filled the bottom of my dryer and was catching fire. Luckily my wife caught it in time..Clean your vents people, dont be lazy!!! I must have removed 5 lbs of lint from the inside of my dryer.
Elode 8,093 Posted December 31, 2014 Oh my goodness! Well good thing you caught it! My dryer Has a warning light when the lint gets to be too much. I'm a fanatic about changing it every time though...bet you will be too now! Glad your safe!@@JerseyJules

LOL 2) are you cleaning just the lint trap or the Vent that goes to the outside? Cause apparently you are supposed to replace that flexible vent every few years. Elode 8,093 Posted December 31, 2014 What? Am I in the men's room? Seriously? Wth I still don't see that! If it the men's room then why in the heck is it posted under "recent topics" that's all I normally read or comment on! Why does it not say what area the " recent topic" is posted in? So aggravating!! I clean the one attached to my actual dryer. @@JerseyJules They really need to fix this topics thing!
Elode 8,093 Posted December 31, 2014 (edited) Oh! Ok I see it now! You have to click on the topic and then it shows up in Tiny writing at the very top of the page ( on my iPad) Well dang! That means I have to read the topic, get my reply all ready, click on the link just to find out I'm not even suppose to be replying! Ugh! That's a lot of stinking work! But ok I get it now! They should label under the "recent topic"'what section it's in so we don't waste our time! Man, I wonder how many times I wrote in the wrong section geez! Rovobay 920 Posted December 31, 2014 scary stuff!!! opened mine up a few weeks ago for some routine maintenance and also on a mission thinking I would find a treasure chest full of missing socks.... no dice. but I did clean it up a bit. what I need to do is clean the entire dryer vent line that leads to the outside. but I would need to go into the crawlspace and do that. it is in the 20's today, so I will put it on my spring cleaning list. JerseyJules 862 Posted December 31, 2014 what I need to do is clean the entire dryer vent line that leads to the outside. That is exactly what you need to clean out every few months apparently. Mine was clogged and backed up and all the lint was stuck inside the dryer..
