Prescribed metabolism booster?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious if anyone else was prescribed an orange powder that makes a fizzy drink when you dissolve it in Water? All it says on the packets of powder is "metabolic booster effervescent powder".

Maybe call or visit your pharmacist, or look it up on the internet. I've never heard of it, but that doesn't mean much! I'd be curious to hear what you find out.

You really shouldn't be drinking anything fizzy or effervescent after sleeve surgery. Things like alka-seltzer are usually on the "not ever again" list. Anything carbonated or with bubbles is generally not good for bariatric patients. I've heard others say that it may be okay if you let it sit for a long time until the bubbles dissipate. However, I wouldn't be one to take that chance. It's probably best if you get permission from your bariatrician or surgeon.

My surgeon is the one who prescribed it to me. It's not terribly fizzy. It's kind of like Airborne, it fizzes, then it dies down and you drink it.

yeah, gotta say "nope" to that one - if we could just take powders and pills to boost metabolism then you wouldn't have needed surgery in the first place. what's in it?

It might be something similar to a liquid Multivitamin? Berroca is what I am thinking of. Its a tablet you put in Water and it fizzes. I was told to use this until I could swallow a multivitamin - but to let the bubbles settle. I could be off base though!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
