Hi I'm getting closer to getting my date. I did everything that was needed had my endoscopy today and my 6 month weigh in was kind of done today as well ????. I need to go back to the surgeon who did the endoscopy two weeks from now to see if anything was wrong. I'm planning to have the band done in February since I have a week off (I'm a teacher and we have mid winter break).

I was wondering if anyone on this site has had the band done in the New York area and where did they go for it

I live in NYC and had my band surgery at NYU. Very happy with the practice and my care there.

I went with a place called the OBand center they have offices in Manhattan and Brooklyn. With my insurance I'm able to have the surgery done in nyu instead of going all the way into brooklyn which I'm very happy about

Who was your Dr?

How long was the process "leg work'?

How long did it take for instance approval

I have my final weigh in next week

Not sure if you're asking me or stay75 but if it's me, my doctor was Christine Ren-Fielding at NYU Bariatric Group. I started the process in July of 2012 and was scheduled for surgery in October. It was postponed till January of 2013 because Sandy hit and NYU was closed for three months with storm damage. My insurance needed three months documentation of doctor-supervised weight loss attempts.

I wasn't upset because I didn't want to have the surgery at all. I did this completely under duress. If I didn't lose weight, I would have wound up in a wheelchair and then I wouldn't have been able to work.

To my utter surprise, the band worked great for me even though I wasn't in a good frame of mind and as you can see from my ticker, I've lost a tremendous amount of weight and I've gotten my life back in the process. It's been like a miracle for me and am more grateful than you could possibly imagine.

I'm don't remember the name of my dr off hand I know he did a famous new weatherman a surgery. I have been in the process of this for 6 months now. I guess I could have done in January but since I have off for a week in February I thought it would be smarter to wait

I went to NYU as well. It's a center of excellence for bariatric surgery. Sounds like you may be on Long Island. Check out LIJ or North Shore as well if you don't want to go to the city. Make it convenient so you get your fills

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
