Hello all, I'm writing to you as I just crawled into bed at 4pm lol I have one week to go until I have to go back to work and I am so anxious about it. I can't seem to stay up past 8-9 pm I try my hardest but it never happens. I got a b-12 shot today that's supposed to help but like I said I just crawled into bed.. I sometimes have to work nights and I don't know how I'm going to pull this off?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Oh and I've been getting in my Protein, taking my Vitamins, drink my fluids..

Some people just need more time than others.....You had major surgery, your body needs rest to heal. I was very tired for several weeks. Some people were at the mall 4 days post op. I could never had done that.

Have you tried Vitamin Water Zero or G2? Maybe your electrolytes are off. Have you checked your blood pressure? Maybe it is low.

I hope you feel better soon.

Yeah, on here days after surgery, people were going to the mall, working in their gardens and pushing the vacuum around. Really?! Just proves that we are all going to have different recoveries. I had basically zero energy for the first 10 to days. I guess it had to do with the fact that my surgeon had me drinking 4ozs of plain broth or Water, per hour, for 10 days. No Protein. On the 11th day I had tiny amount of cream of wheat, some blended Soup and small amount of skim milk. OMG! I instantly felt so much better. By my one month post op I was still easily tired, but felt like I was back energy wise. Just take it easy when you can.

Not sure how long ago you had your surgery, but I turned the corner on day 8. Until then I was sleeping 9 hours at night and still getting a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. I dropped the naps on day 8 (not intentionally, just didn't need one) and went back to work on day 10. I am 12 days post op and seriously feel like the surgery did not even happen. I am eating every 3 hours or so (I am still on full liquid diet) and that seems to work for me and I am getting 60g of Protein. I am struggling to get all of the Water in (it's cold here in Toronto!!), but working on it. Hope you turn the corner soon.

Yep I was one of those up an at em' by 4. Everyone is different. While you can sleep. When you return to work when you aren't working or eating, sleep.

Hi, after my surgery I felt great. Not tired at all. At about month 5-6 I was soooo tired. I went to my Dr. and they ran all my labs and didn't find anything that would explain. My B labs were high so I actually had to cut back on B-12 & B1. I went to my regular doctor and she suggested maybe I adjust my diet, sometimes food allergies can have an effect. I found out it was the nuts. I have nut allergies (lethargic and later I developed hives). I'm not saying this could be what's wrong with you, but possibly it could be something your eating that you can longer tolerate. I can't do Protein Shakes because of the milk, and don't like the almond or soy options. Which isn't a big deal because my Dr. would rather I got my Protein from food rather than shakes. Hopefully you can find out what's going on soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
