Day 2 of Optifast diet

Recommended Posts

I just found you guys and I am on day 2 of Optifast. As a busy mom of 5 kids, I am finding this part the most challenging. They keep asking me for food and it is driving me crazy. I just told my oldest that he had lunch duty today and I am going upstairs while they eat. The dr said I just need to get through the first 3-4 days and it gets easier. Any suggestions?

It is true that the first few days are the hardest. I felt horrible and craved EVERYTHING for 3 days, after that the rest of the 2 weeks was a breeze. You can do it!

Hang in there and know you can do this!! It isn't easy and it takes every bit of self control you can muster. Welcome to the group!

@@GeoJen Hi, welcome! And just let me say there is nothing wrong with putting someone else on food duty during this time. I did! My husband was responsible for all the food for the kids and himself while I stayed in my room and guess what...they didn't starve and I didn't cheat! Boom! Done! Good luck!

I did the Optifast program too, it's true after the first few days it gets MUCH easier then you won't worry so much about having food around you won't want it. Dont' cheat it's not worth it, you will do great!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
