laurenella82 625 Posted December 30, 2014 Yesterday I got a call from the case worker at my surgeon's office saying that my insurance company approved me for surgery!!!!! I didn't even know that they had submitted it. This means the decision came back in less than a week!!! I haven't gotten my date yet though. Because of the holiday I may not hear from the scheduler for about a week. She was on vacation and is now playing catch up.
wannaBthinsoon 1,634 Posted December 30, 2014 OMG!! Happy New Year to YOU!!! I have my finger poised and ready to dial the insurance company and the surgical facility on 1/2/15. I will then be officially "insured"!! With all the preplanning, and stuff I already completed, it appears I only have a psych visit a dietitian visit and a nutrition class to attend then I'll be submitted for approval! I'm praying for a January date! I understand the surgeons aren't too busy first of the year because folks haven't met their out of pocket yet, so they wait till later in the year. Well.....I saved all last year for my OOP, so I'm ready NOW!!! Be sure to let us know your date when you find out! This is sooooo exciting!!

Beni 1,484 Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) @@laurenella82 Very soon. I would say 6 weeks at the most for GW and your doctor may even be less. Right around the corner and a wonderful new year's present to yourself. I'm 9 weeks post and have lost 51 lbs. I cannot tell you how good I feel. Never mind the weight loss and how I look, how I feel is the real miracle. I walked around for 3 hours last night at the Wash. DC Zoo to see the lights and I was running around like a little kid. A year ago. I would have to take breaks and go slow up that hill. Even the 45 minute line to get flashing lights cotton candy was a breeze. Not once did I require a break. laurenella82 625 Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) @@Beni, that's amazing! I took my niece and my son to the zoo this summer and when my brother asked me to take them I about died! I already knew it was going to be a problem for me and we didn't even get through the whole zoo! I look forward to feeling better so I can really enjoy that with my son! Beni 1,484 Posted December 31, 2014 You will be amazed at the difference. I wouldn't have believed you if you told me this would be the result after surgery. The only people I have read that are not feeling fantastic are those with nutrient deficiencies or complications (minority). Don't forget your pills as per doctor's plan. Drink your fluids and follow your plan and the rest is nature taking it's course. It is a tool and I look at it as: Before surgery: hammering a nail without a hammer After surgery: having a hammer. You still need to know how to hammer the nail (sometimes you will hit your finger) but now you have something that will work for you as before all you had was your bare hands. Happy New Year.
