Life Insurance Options Post-Surgery?

Recommended Posts

Prior to surgery, many times, I'd been turned down for life insurance nearly everywhere.

Reasons cited were weight, fatty liver issues, and in one case slightly elevated blood pressure (though blood pressure is not normally a thing for me).

Wondering if anyone has been down the same road, and found some luck post surgery. I'm around 108 lbs down now... not quite enough to start shopping, I think, but I'm hoping to get a decent policy in the next six months or so.

Welcome

you are one of the latest and greatest new member to the century club :)

108 lbs down!!!!

wow!!!!

party dance, party dance

the physical problems you had - helped you get approved for WLS

now as these physical issues (and others) improve or go away

life insurance will be more available to you!!!

never too early to nose/snoop around a couple of insurance companies

if you feel comfortable - talk to an agent about WLS, your life et al

"nothing ventured, nothing" gained" ( expression my mom would say ;) oooops no pun intended, really )

as your weight goes down, you will not be as much of a risk

therefore your premium will be less :)

you are doing a great job

keep up the good work

kathy

congrats

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
