anyone younger than 25 have surgery???????

Recommended Posts

I'm a 20 year old female and I'm considering getting lap-band surgery. Are there any young girls out there who have had the surgery? How did it go for you? Would you recommend getting it at such a young age? THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey there, here's a link to a whole thread of people in their 20s (and at least one 18 year old).

I was 22 when I got mine, and I'm 25 now, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who sees the pattern starting with the trying to lose weight, gaining more, etc, etc. :)

I started my lap band journey when I was just 24 just turning 25, I wanted to get it done since I was 23, but had to go through all the pre-surgery stuff and didn't have great insurance, I say if your doctor thinks you should get it done, get it done!! If you follow the band rules you will succeed!!

I'm 25 and I just got it done April 30th. So far, I'm doing OK and learning to change my eating behaviors. I'm glad I did it at this age, when I went to the seminar all I saw were people my parents age with all sorts of medical problems related to obesity. I decided I didn't want to be like that and to get banded now and hopefully avoid most of those medical problems.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
