Recommended Posts

Surgery date 12/17. I was starting to feel ok then all of a sudden I have pains in my belly the big incision.. my muscles ache a little. ..I also had my gallbladder removed at the same time.. the pain was gone from that woke up this morning and it hurts in that area. I have lost 20 pounds so far. 6 pre 14 post. Not eating much everything feels so heavy get nauseated when I eat even my two tablespoons.

Have you checked with your doctor? The pain and nausea might be expected, but your doc should be able to help you with the nausea. Mine gave me a prescription for a liquid medication that really helped to keep things down. Are you drinking enough liquids?

Great! I found that regular Water didn't sit well with me for the longest time. Someone here recommended Whole Foods' electrolyte water, and that was a lifesaver for me. I bought it by the case (10% discount!) and drank around 2 liters (or quarts) a day. It was a long softer on my tongue and seemed to soothe me, for some reason. Anyway, it's worth a try. Keep posting on how you're doing.

Any of the non-cal Water flavorings (Mio, Crystal Lite, etc.) help the Water go down easier, too.

You're doing great!

Each day should be better than the previous. If you have sudden extreme pain in your belly area I suggest you call up your surgeon's office to let them know. It could be nothing or it could be something! There's nothing to lose by calling :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
