Cancelled Surgery

I, too was miserable my first six weeks or so. It was like a switch flipped after that. My doctor cleared me for a regular diet, I was able to get my Protein in and suddenly my energy returned! That being said, if you are still feeling overwhelmed and depressed, I would recommend, as others before me did, seek medical attention. Get your blood work checked, make sure your levels are good, talk to a counselor to address your emotional issues.

I still have days ( when faced with delicious holiday, family meals) that I wish I could eat more. Then I realize my health is great, my clothes look good, and I accept that this was the best choice for me!

@@HappygoSusan Thank you for sharing! I'm 6 weeks post op now and I think I'm doing better! :-) I'm glad to know that I'm not alone in how I feel. Knowing that others have been where I am and they got through it, gives me hope and encouragement! I'm happy to hear you are doing so well now. I think I'm on my way too. I'm going to see a therapist about my feelings/depression.

I went to a nutritionist and got some advice. I'll be going to an endocrinologist next week too for a thorough check. I have hypothyroidism and anemia and other Vitamin difficiencies so I know that has a lot to do with my overall health right now.

Everyday gets better and I'm starting to feel better. Your story really helps! Thank you for sharing! :-)

I have a pitutitary adenoma so I see an endo as well. Thankfully I've been mostly asymptomatic since surgery. I had bloodwork done the week before my sleeve and it was normal for me. My prolactin level is always high due to the adenoma but it was within limits from what is usually is. I just got my 3 mth bloodwork from the VSG and so far everything is normal. In fact my B12 was high so I only have to take that once a week now.

@@Sleeve101 - I hope everything checks out for you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
