maria88 11 Posted December 29, 2014 Hi... My surgery date was the 4th of December and I'm having a hard time drinking the 64oz of Water my doctor wants me to get in in 24 hours... I've been writing everything down, the time I eat, take Multivitamins, Protein shakes... But it's hard to get more than 40oz of water a day, and that's the best I've done. Usually it's 30 or 35. Any help would be greatly appreciated... I've definitely felt dizzy, light headed and nauseous from lack of water....
Mstdst13 23 Posted December 29, 2014 I was sleeved on 12/3, I used to love Water, now I also struggle to get 64 oz in. I use two techniques. One is the low sugar Gatorade G2. I mix 1/2 water and 1/2 G2. The other is caffeine free teas, I drink hot chamomile or I make a pitcher of iced mint tea or iced Tazo passion tea. I just drink drink drink every 15 mins. maria88 11 Posted December 29, 2014 Thanks I've have to give the G2 a try... I think what's hard for me is the time restrictions... That I have to not drink fluids 30 minutes before I have a meal, and then wait 45 minutes after I eat to start drinking again... I guess it gets easier with time
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 29, 2014 You can try coconut Water, pedialyte or a sports drink like gatorade. Drink as much as you can. I started adding lost of ice to my Protein Drinks to get in more water. I also used a Liquid Protein that I mixed with herbal tea so I could get water and Protein in at the same time. maria88 11 Posted December 29, 2014 I've heard of people using a liquid Protein, but I haven't found one yet... Like a no favored one
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 29, 2014 I used Prosource nocarb liquid Protein.< /a> They started me on it in the hospital. Each packet is 15gms of protein so 4 of these a day in herbal tea, mixed in Water and you're done.
DonnaC1 4 Posted December 31, 2014 I too can not get my Fluid in. The most I get is 24 ounces. I can not drink any thing cold as I feel sick. So I started on lukewarm Water and hot tea. I can not find the time to get both Protein and fluids in.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 31, 2014 (edited) That's why I like the liquid Proteins. I'll use the prosource no carb an example since that's the one I used. 15 gms of Protein per serving. It mixes well with tea. The packet is small, it fills a medicine cup like you get with a bottle of nyquil. So add that to say 8 ounces of herbal tea. Do that 4 times a day. So that's 8am, 12pm,4 pm, 8pm - That's 60 grams of protein and 32 ounce of fluids. That's a great start and will keep you from being dehydrated. If you feel up to it, you can even sip on more Water or diluted fluids from 8pm on since you have hit your protein requirements. jlcohio 24 Posted January 5, 2015 My Nut says I can't count tea as Water intake. I can count Crystal Light but not Decaf tea and she cannot give me a good reason. I hate Crystal Light and I am also having trouble getting in my water. Can't count Gatorade or other liquid except pure water.

In the summer I do a mixture of cucumber/ginger/crushed mint leaves.
Packerfan61964 293 Posted January 5, 2015 New whey makes a liquid Protein that comes in a 3.8 oz bottle that has 42 grams of Protein. It comes in many flavors. I mix it with a similar flavor of crystal light or mio and kill 2 birds with one stone.

I mix it with a similar flavor of crystal light or mio and kill 2 birds with one stone. I saw New whey in a grocery add today and was wondering about it. I was afraid it would have a funky taste and/or aftertaste, so that's a great idea to mix it with crystal light. What's your thoughts: any weird taste you had to get used to? What are some good flavor combos? Thanks for sharing!

My dietician saying anything that's a liquid counts, Soup, decaf tea (I water mine down a lot tho like 4 oz tea to 16 oz water and no sugar), she also said to count apple sauce, Popsicles (sugar free), Jello, Protein shakes... A liquid is a liquid.
maria88 11 Posted January 8, 2015 You could get an infuser pitcher and flavor your Water naturally. In the summer I do a mixture of cucumber/ginger/crushed mint leaves. Even if you don't have an infusion pitcher, I take cucumbers and slice them add them to a big Nalgene bottle and after a couple hours in the fridge I scoop out the cucumbers, do the same thing with strawberries (whole) + lemon (sliced), or sliced orange + lemon, and then cucumber + mint
