Erin11 2 Posted December 29, 2014 I am scheduled to have surgery on December 30th. I woke up with a cold on Saturday. Has anyone developed a cold and they still operated on you! I read in my surgery Manual that I would have to be re-evaluated for surgery. I am just wondering if anyone has gone through this. I am having RNY. Thanks in advance for any advise. MamaTo3inNH 100 Posted December 29, 2014 I asked my surgeon about this because with three kids, there is always someone sick in the house lol! He said they don't consider it an issue unless there is a fever, or such bad congestion that it impedes your breathing. I would start pounding the Vitamin C right now and drink tons of Water, get some extra rest. Good luck!!
Erin11 2 Posted December 30, 2014 Thank you for your response. Dr said surgery is a go as long as there isn't a fever or severe cough. Surgery here I come!
jasminebsn3 119 Posted December 30, 2014 I developed a cold a week before my surgery. I immediately went to an express outpatient medical clinic and got an antibiotic. I still felt a little under the weather on the day of my surgery but they said I was good to go.
