bigsky 1 Posted December 28, 2014 I have a question for all the guys who have had the weight loss surgery, we hear about all the women who are going through the hormonal changes. Do we as men go through our own hormonal changes after the surgery. I had my surgery on 11/17 and am down over 50 lbs since surgery. I am just not feeling my-old-self since the surgery. Thanks everyone in advance.
catdaddy 232 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) Nothing different from me other than feeling real good. Edited December 29, 2014 by merkman
cube68 70 Posted February 6, 2015 I occasionally get depressed, usually when my kids are eating pizza, or when I think about a big, fat pastrami sandwich from the Carnegie Deli... But them I remind myself that I'm a whole new person, with a long, healthier life ahead of me. I'm off my diabetes meds, my blood pressure meds, and hopefully, next week when I see my Dr, will be off my cholesterol meds. I'm definately not my "old-self", I'm a whole, new self, that I actually like now!
catdaddy 232 Posted February 6, 2015 Hey @@bigsky it's been over a month since your last post and I'm just wondering how your doing now?
bigsky 1 Posted February 6, 2015 It has been a long month plus. My energy has not come back to anywhere it was before surgery back on 11/17/04 but I have had some set backs after some progress in healing but such as life. I tell myself that my body isn't liking the change I made to it and is trying to deal with it everyday and is getting better with it all the time. My mental state of mind is still depending on how my body is doing I am assuming right now and that is what I am telling myself. I know things will get better but for me it is a slow process of recovery.

nwsunlvr 0 Posted February 7, 2015 I find for myself that inactivity or the weather tend to bring me down, and then I want to revert back to my old ways. When I am feeling that way, I grab a bottle of Water and go for a walk. I also concentrate on eating a higher Protein meal for the next few meals. I learned years ago in weigh watchers that if you are feeling depressed or you want sugar....your body is low in protein. Up the ante for a couple of meals to get back on level. bigsky 1 Posted February 8, 2015 Weather always makes me depressed and not feeling good mentally or physically due to other reasons but getting out to walk is a big challenge when. You live in the norther part of the USA with the snow and nasty weather. I have been told by my surgeon that I am not able to go to the gym yet and he has notified the gym of my situation which I hope gets better soon. I just have to do what I have to do in my own way and right now it is walking at work and around my house. Just to elaborate on why I am not able to go to the gym still is I have an open wound on my belly from an infection I got from my bowel obstruction 4 days after my rny surgery. I am thinking there is other issues that have caused this not to heal properly from past abdominal surgeries for hernia's.
catdaddy 232 Posted February 8, 2015 Hey Bigsky, I can't imagine what you're going through. I do know about bad weather. I dislike it so much I retired in the southeast. I've been watching what's going on in the northeast and I hear even more bad weather is coming your way. I commented to my wife just tonight about how nice it is living down south. Today I even spent most of the day outside doing some wood work. Maybe by the time spring arrives up there you'll be ready to hit the gym. Best of luck.
