Day after tomorrow!!

Recommended Posts

The first day of the rest of my life is Thursday! I am nervous and excited and at this point, just want the day to come and get the surgery over with. Any last minute words of advice? This site has been so helpful and I know that I will gain support and encouragement in the days, weeks, months to come!:clap2:

Congratulations on your surgery date. :clap2:

The best advice I have for you is not to be nervous. I took that advice from other members and it was so helpful. Everything went so well and was fast. The biggest complaint I had was a dry mouth and being thirsty. Any pain was completely tolerable and the nurses addressed it quickly.

When I got home it was sore but the pain meds took care of it.

Don't worry!! You'll feel really silly if you let your nerves get the best of you!

I too will be banded tomorrow morning (Thursday). Here it is 5am in the morning and I usually don't get up until 7am to go to work. I have been up several times in the night and just can't sleep. I am really nervous and excited at the same time. I was only required to be on liquids for two days (clear). The only thing I am not excited about is taking 3 tablespoons of Milk of Magnesia at 8am this morning as required by my doctor.........Good luck to the other lady getting banded tomorrow morning also.......This site has been a life saver as far as any questions I might have had about what happens to you before, after and during. Thank you million to all that have gone before me.

Best wishes and congratulations to both of you. Think past your operation. One week or less from now, you'll be back to your life, and on with your life as a bandster.

I was banded yesterday as well. Doing well, a little pain but not too bad. My shoulder is definitely bothering me and my port incision is too. Still in the hospital.

I'm struggling with getting all my Water in. Had about 1/2 a cup of Water and couldn't do any more. (not all at once, 1/2 cup since 10am). My ddoc said the band was really loose and that I probably wouldn't get restriction but I definitely feel it. Is it just wishful thinking on my part or could that be real?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
