Hard to explain but I understand, eating can be a social sharing experience in a way I think. Even family has kind of been weirded out I guess by the little I eat. I see it different than being bothered by what I eat. People would love me to eat a vegetarian or even vegan dish, they just want me to eat. Ha - :).

Why would someone worry about what you are eating? Even when I was the sole vegetarian in a group of carnivores it's never been an issue.

Eat out right now because I can get killer broth style Soups at Thai, Japanese, Mexican restaurant. I just feed the solid stuff to my mom or GF. And have enough broth for days!

@ - I understand the socializing over food, but I don't get the policing other people's food choices. All I need is good food and good friends to have a good time.

@storytotell. Totally agree with you here. Maybe things will change for me in the future, but my capacity is so small, yes, I'm thankful, I have zero desire to take the time to sit in a restaurant. I will confess that I also prefer to eat in private. Yes, people do look at what others eat and comment on it. At this time eating for me is not a joyous event. I eat for nutrition and I'm done.

Fortunately the people I call my friends don't do that and anyone else doesn't matter to me. Perhaps I have just reached the age where I don't care what others think. I enjoy being with my friends socializing, occasionally that does include going out to eat. I've been out to restaurants 4 times since being sleeved and never once felt uncomfortable. I still enjoy eating, just in smaller portions.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
