Compression garments?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone invested in compression garments? I hear they help keep things in place and help reduce skin stretching. I've checked out two sites and one is outrageously priced and the other is more reasonable. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I have. I bought yoga pants & a top from Lane Bryant and a few pairs of pants from Old Navy. I don't know if it helps but it keeps me from feeling all jiggly as I lose.

I was sent home with one from the hospital although they have similar versions at Walgreens. It was a compression belt that was about 8 or 10 inches long so it covered my torso. It helped immensely during the first couple of weeks. I highly recommend one.

I buy shape wear from Maidenform it's their self expression line. They have ones that are just tank tops that you can wear with your own underwear or ones that have snap crotch built in underwear. They are priced from $22-$28 & can be found at Target & Walmart. I have lose skin & it helps me feel comfortable & look good in clothes.

I agree. In addition to my workout compression wear I have few body shapers that help me look better in clothes. I wear a lot of dresses so my favorite is this long slip. I prefer this over the ones that come to just above the knee and always manage to roll up.

I wear a shaper under my clothes and shape leggings. I love them! I feel more like woman with them on. I didnt do the compression after surgery, I wish I did. I know it helps with the pain.

I don't wear them. I'm down 102 pounds. Both my arms and my legs jiggle. So why not wear them? Because I figure come summer time it's going to be too hot to wear them and I need to get use to my body as is. In jeans and long sleeve shirts things look fine. And the pants squish in my belly anyway. The only thing I wear that keeps things in place is a sports bra that holds what use to be my boobs.

Ditto. I wear it to run (usually under armor) but that's about it. And even then typically only for races or longer runs (over 6 miles)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
