I haven't experienced dumping syndrome, I have the sleeve, but if you're still not feeling well, I'd call my doc immediately and/or go to the hospital immediately.

Yep! I had surgery too on the 16th. On the 5th day, I was feeling great. So I decided to get all my Protein and liquids in come heck or high Water. So I did, I had 2 Protein Shakes, yogurt with protein, cream of Soup, then finished the night off with pudding & protein. About 5-7 minutes after eating the pudding, I felt nauseous & clammy. Then my stomach started cramping and I sat on the toilet not knowing which way it was going to come. It was the same bodily reaction I get when food poisoned. After having diarrhea for 20 minutes, the nausea went away, but I felt like crap for a day. Since then I've learned to slow down & not force things just because I'm feeling good. Haven't had the problem since.

@ projectme I guess that could be it but I feel so tired and sweating a lot. I think I'm consuming too much sugar. The pineapple pouch I eat everyday has 13g but yesterday for the first time I had 2

@@Joy889 Not sure what your surgeon's post op instructions are, but maybe consider going back to just full liquids for a day. That's what I did and I felt tons better. Also, I think that in my case, I had too much dairy too close together. I no longer eat the pudding or the cream of Soup and haven't had any more problems. Hope this helps :)

According to my booklet I ca eat things like scrambled eggs , oatmeal, and grits. I find it so weird that so many surgeons have different protocols I mean at the end of the day we all have the same surgery it's weird to me

Yep. I find it weird too. My surgeons are very conservative and it's sometimes hard reading that others can eat/drink different things. But, I'm not mad at them..just jealous :)

@@Joy889 @@ProjectMe I'm about 13 days post op and I have started to transition myself ton puréed foods even though I wasn't supposed to started until Monday. Many people can already have them a 7 days post op so I figured it couldn't kill me to start transitioning a couple days early.

I've only done Greek yogurt with applesauce to thin it a bit, blended clam chowder, and egg whites with cheese. So far the Greek yogurt (which I loved pre op) has felt very thick going down. I'm so disappointed, but hopefully it will get better the more I have it. I would really hate to get rid of that from my diet.

The egg whites I chewed very well and they felt okay going down. The Soup too. I'll wait a bit before I try cream of wheat or oatmeal as my primary focus is Protein since I don't drink Protein shakes. Yuck!

Hey @@MyssJones ! Thanks for the suggestions. I'm actually on the full liquid phase so I'm able to have Greek yogurt. I kind of just lick my spoon and let it turn into liquid before swallowing. Seems to work :). I really want to eat some cream of wheat and oatmeal. Someone else on here said the dream of wheat felt really heavy in their stomach....but I'm willing to give it a try since I love it that much!!! I'll ley y'all know how it goes next Wednesday!

@@ProjectMe I'm also technically in week 2- full liquids. But, I just don't get enough Protein so I had to incorporate some more Protein substances in my diet.

I technically start phase 3- purée diet on Monday. I also read that the cream of wheat was heavy on the sleeve, so when you do try it, just make it really soupy. This process really does require phasing foods in slowly.

I had dunping syndrome and am sleeved.

It happened with two things.

Frozen yogurt --- full fat or full sugar

Falafel --- deep fried fat goodness

Take a look at what you ate and that should point you to what not to eat for a bit.

Also dumping syndrome happens and you get it all out and then that's it. Usually within 15-30 minutes after eating. If it continues all night or past that it is not dumping it's something else.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
