Reset your sleeve?

Recommended Posts

Is it true that there is a way to "reset" your sleeve? I feel like I'm doing well but I'm plateauing and concerned about how much I'm taking in and wanna get myself in check and start anew. I've heard talk about resetting the sleeve is this a real thing? How would one do it.

Never heard that. Everyone plateaus. It's part of the adjusting that your body goes through as you lose weight. You can try increase your calories a bit and see if that helps, but mostly you just have to wait it out.

@@Patoonces I am no where near that point BUT in all my mass amounts of research I have heard multiple people say that once they felt they may have "stretched" the sleeve a bit or felt they weren't having as much restriction as they like they went back to the liquid diet phase for a week or two to "shrink" the stomach. Now, with that being said I have no idea if it works or is true but that's what I've read about.

I've done my version of a reset a couple of times when I've felt like I let some bad habits sneak back in. It has helped to (1) break those habits quickly and (2) for whatever reason it helps the restriction to return more it seems. I usually just return to liquids for a few days. Some people go back through the stages of post op eating (liquids, purée, soft, etc).

I'm 16 months out and my life has completely changed. However recently I've experienced some old habits returning. I've been doing some research and this page gives some good info that seems consistent with much of the research I've seen.

This one also refers to the test you were asking about:

Everyone has a different opinion about the stretching of the sleeve. Every doctor also gives a different answer. My doctor says that it's physically impossible to stretch it back to the way it was, yes it can stretch but very little! So I personally feel at your next appointment you should talk with your doctor and go with what he/she says, they are your doctor !

Thanks! Returning to liquids may be the perfect solution that I personally was looking for!

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
