Recommended Posts

I have had alot of request for pictures of my incision from my surgery. Some of you all have seen my pictures but for the ones that have not, please feel free to check my website.liquid diets for longer times than others and there is some people that are emotionally confused and frustrated about not being able to eat like they use to. Everyone's different. My problem is that my eyes are bigger than my stomach. I order alot of food still thinking that i can eat everything in the world. Let me break it down. I wish, what i am posting was posted before i had the surgery. I will answer questions with my point of view to the new comers if needed. Let see...

Question 1- Can i still have hanky pank after my surgery? :banana Yes just be careful and don't put to much pressure on your tummy.

Question 2- Does it hurt alot after you wake up from the surgery? A little. From a scale 1-10 its a 7. It feesl like something is in your belly and it won't come out. It feels tight and a little uncomfortable. The medicines will help you through it. :cry

Question 3-How long did it take for you to get better? About 1 week. I am still hurting at times but not as bad. The 3rd day is the worst. But keep taking your medicine and you will fight through it. :)

Question 4-Will i have problems coughing, sneezing, going to the restroom? Yes. for a while. I still have problem with coughing and sneezing. I also had problems tring to use the restroom because my abdominal muscles were hurting. Put a pillow on your bellow when doing these things it will help.

Question 5- Does it hurt to lay down? Yes! i had so much trouble tring to get up and down from bed. I could not make my abdominal muscle strong enough right after the surgery. Just make sure you take it easy and have someone help you get up if you need help.

Question 5-How long did you stay on the clear liquid diet. I stayed on it for 1 week. Some stay on it longer per there doctor but i have heard so many different views about this. Just make sure you consult with your doctor first before doing anything drastic. I am eating solids now. I have lost 12 pds in 2 weeks. But go by your doctors orders.

If you all have anymore questions please feel free to email me. I will answer any question that is given to me. As long as it is within reason. Remember, these are my view and experience from the lap band. Have a good day! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
