Me too! I keep wondering if something will stop me from having my surgery now that it is here! AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! :o :o

1 day and 2 nights!!!!!!!!! I'm so nervous but mostly excited! Still waiting on that call from the hospital and for some reason I feel hungrier than ever?! I think it's just because I'm so antsy. I have reoccurring "what if's" in my head but I'm trying my best to focus on all the good that's about to come!

What are the thoughts going through everyone else's heads now that the 15th is around the corner??

hoping the worst doesn't happen, can't believe it is finally finally here, last night I was having those crazy hunger induced insane thoughts, I was thinking, WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE MY NEW SMALLER BODY, I'VE NEVER BEEN NORMAL SIZE, WHAT IF IT TURNED IT THAT I LIKED MY BIGGER BODY BETTER? but I know that's just stupid, I have to do this to keep from getting diabetes, my knees going out, so I can have energy, feel better, look better, and most importantly LIVE.

Yes, I'm def worried about that whole "leaving my kids without a mom" thing. But obviously I'm not THAT worried, or I wouldn't go through with it. I left my DH a list of "instructions", just in case. Like, remember to register for summer camps in January. Here is how you make pancakes. Find someone to help you shop for their clothes. Etc. etc. :)

On another note, have you guys ever noticed how delicious chicken broth is? It really is the FULL ESSENCE of chicken. :)

Surgery in 11 hours.

I agree. I'm the only present, acceptable parent they have. Good point, we must not be THAT nervous or we wouldn't do it. broth, I can't believe I'm saying This but this pre op diet has made me picky. I've never been picky so this is new to me. I don't care for any of the 5 different broths I bought, my Protein Powder is too too too sweet, I really only like my eas carb control and my Powerade zero in blue n strawberry and my sugar free popcicles ( I don't normally do sweet stuff and never cared for Jello. I can't believe im picky.

I have been the same way hungry, hungry! Me to the "what if's" are driving me nuts. I am also trying to focus on anything else I can do but it's hard.

I'm having those, I don't want to give up this food or that food, even though I have been pretty good at low carbing it for quite some time. I think I have more of a quantity problem instead of quality. But when I see food commercials or have food thoughts the last few days I can't help but swoon for whatever feeling I get that drives me to eat so much. Ive said it before my stomach has always been larger than normal even as a kid. So I can't wait to not need so much food to satisfy my appetite.

We are all having the some thoughts, my biggest fear is also leaving my kids with out a parent. And the other one is what if I don't like the way I look when I am skinny. I think I have noticed more food commercials in the last two days then ever. I can't even believe the day is almost here. I am leaving everything in gods hands, praying for everything to come out good.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
