I work out in the am so I tend to do a Protein shake. I make a really large 20 ounce drink. I have half pre work out and half post work out. I find the extra Protein fuels my work outs better and I lose more as a result. I was doing Protein shakes before I did WLS surgery. They almost all have Fage 0% greek yogurt and unsweetened almond milk as a base. I think add any combo of a variety of things: avocado, apples, pears, pineapple, spinach, flax powder, tumeric, nutmeg, berries, peaches, cherries, oranges, cocao powder, almond butter, cashew butter, baked sweet potato. I just play around and make up my own combinations. This gives me on avg. between 30 and 40gms of protein a day.

On non gym days: I like grits with a bit of sauteed onions/peppers/mushrooms, oatmeal with dried cranberries or white raisins (I buy plain rolled oats and cook my own from scratch), soft scrambled eggs that I mix in a tsp of greek yogurt and top with a bit of shredded cheese, lettuce wrap with smoked tempeh, Tomato and a avocado, I do an overnight parfait that I layer yogurt, oatmeal and fruit cooked with a little brown sugar. The oats absorb the liquids over night. It's a great on the go breakfast.

As a rare treat I may go to my favorite diner and get a vegetable omelet with cheese and home fries with peppers and onions. This use to be my post gym meal pre surgery. I've done it once since surgery . It took me 3 days to eat the omelet and I picked off the homefries for 5 days and eventually threw out the rest.

I do the usual egg whites with turkey sausage cheese and 1/4 an avocado. I also like to mix it all and bake it in a muffin Pan that way they are portable individual servings and you can add whatever you want.

Around 6 weeks. I stir mine and make them really creamy. If I may also add a bit of either unflavored Protein powder to it or a bit of greek yogurt towards the end of cooking (I don't use the instant kind). It makes them nice an creamy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
