BirdGangAnt 4 Posted December 26, 2014 I was reading a post where someone had asked about Pork rinds. They listed the nutritional info and it had around 9-10g Protein. Then another poster said that isn't "good" protein. What is "good" or "bad" protein? I want to make sure if I eat something that has protein listed that it counts towards my protein goal. esskay77 785 Posted December 26, 2014 You want "lean" Protein as much as possible. I was told to stay away from hot dogs, deli meats, bacon, pork, ham, that sort of thing. Probably shouldn't have steak very often either. Mostly chicken and turkey and fish and Beans, that sort of thing (and also cottage cheese and yogurt are good). But, interestingly, it isn't just people who had surgery that should avoid these other Proteins. If you do some reading about the nitrates (or is it nitrites?) in these Proteins like hot dogs, etc. you will read that they are really bad for you in so many ways). BirdGangAnt 4 Posted December 26, 2014 Thanks for the reply. I'll read into them.
bellabloom 2,467 Posted December 26, 2014 Aren't they fried and full of preservatives? You may find you don't care for them much any more. Your tastes may change a lot and you'll crave leaner lighter fare.
Julie Kells 1 Posted December 29, 2014 I eat steak regularly about 3 ounces and it is a great source of Protein what you need to watch is added fats and calories as well as nigh carb fillers like in hot dogs......there is a lot of fat in bacon, sausages and Pork rinds
