Hi, Jan 12 is my date!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm Rachel from the Queensland Central Coast in Australia. My date is the 12th Jan. I'm onto day 6 of my preop diet. Xmas was hard!!!

I'm excited to be having my surgery, but a little nervous too.

Is it just me, or is everyone else beginning to notice how many ads for food are on TV or FB??!!

I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all and to begin this journey with you!

Rach xx

Good luck with everything. If I understand everybody, you will may be challenged for the next two weeks. Remember why you are doing what you are doing and stay strong. I am about 2 months behind you in my journey. And yes, the ads are horrible, but it is the way our society is structured. Good luck and keep us posted.

Sam

Hey :)

Lol, small (ish) world!!

My preop diet is 3 1/2 serves of Optifast. I do 3 shakes and 1/2 a bar. Then at least 1 cup of diet jelly. I'm allowed as many non starchy veges as I like, plus 1 cup of berries or melon.

What is yours?

Hey there.....I'm going to have mine on the 12th as well. We'll have to keep up with each other for encouragement. I'm starting my liquid diet tomorrow and I wasn't told I could eat anything other than liquid, so you're lucky in that fact. I'm told the first three days are the worse and then it gets easier so I'm looking forward to keeping myself busy on those first three days so that I don't have time to concentrate on how hungry I am or think that I am!!! LOL!

Best wishes!

Well, I'm settled in after surgery but full of gas! If that could subside I'd be into something. I've been trying to walk every hour for a few minutes. How did you make out?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
