5 years of weight history

Recommended Posts

So, I had my obgyn appt earlier this week, and had him provide me with the last 5 years of weight history. It didn't start out too bad. BMI was about 33 about 5 years ago, and went up every single year after that. oh! And they have my height incorrect on my records. They have my height were it was at in my 20's. I am in my 50's and gravity has shrunk me bit in height. I have high hopes I can explain the discrepancy to the bariatric hospital and insurance co, so they understand. My PCP measured my height when i began my 6 month supervised diet 7 months ago, and I was 5'6" not 5'8". I had the OBGYN office correct this years, which has my BMI correct, but they can't go back and correct previous years. What do you think? They should understand right? I didn't shrink overnight.

@ Thank you. That eases my mind quite a bit. I worry so much that somehow I will be denied. I don't know why I worry so much. I'm clearly a candidate. BMI proves that. I am otherwise healthy, aside from sleep apnea, which is controlled now via c-pap. Plus I've had a weight problem all my life, and been dieting every day of my life for about 45 years. I think that should cinch it. lol Thanks again! Happy Holidays! Wish me luck. I'm calling to get all this started on January 2nd!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
