I was told that the stretchy part of the stomach was removed. What we have left is made of muscle which is much tougher and harder to stretch. It may be that the inflammation in your tummy is subsiding. Just follow the protocol and you will be successful.

it's also possible because you are still in the liquid phase. Liquids will go through you faster. That feeling should subside once you transition to purees or soft foods.

@@Joy889 Liquids shouldn't stretch out your stomach, they go right through.

I wonder if you are bloated...I know if I drink a milk or milk-based beverage, I bloat. Feels terrible, so I tend to stay away from it. It does subside, but takes some time. Good luck!

I know @@"Elode" but when I drink my liquids I feel like I'm drinking too much at a time even though I try my best not to and monitor my ounces per hr

@@BLERDgirl because I feel so for every time that I drink I feel that I'm about to stretch out my stomach or something like I feel that I have too many ounces of Water that i drink in one sitting even though I try my best to monitor that. Even though my stomach feels at its compacity about 30 minutes or so later I still drink more water because I'm trying to get in all of my ounces by the end of the day

Relax. It's Water. It's gonna run through you. It doesn't sit in your stomach because it doesn't need to be broken down and digested.

Yes but its not just water...it's Protein Shakes and Soups as well... But I guess I'm over thinking even though I've already had the surgery I still just get scared sometimes like something will go wrong...this is still so new to me...

No idea. Have you talked to your doctor? It may be the food is not soft enough. Are you doing purees or soft foods?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
