fezik23 240 Posted December 25, 2014 Any cough or cold medicine that does not contain ibuprofen or aspirin or naproxen. In other words, acetaminophen or else no pain killer at all.
WL WARRIOR 692 Posted December 25, 2014 I am getting over a double ear and sinus infection and was prescribed a lot of meds. My doctor said Sudafed and antihistamines were fine. The Sudafed messes with my blood pressure, however. My son is getting over Influenza A, thank goodness. He threw up at his christmas program, in the back seat of the car, the health clinic waiting room, and at a Christmas dinner. The liquid Tamiflu medication taste so bad it would instantly make him throw up. Well, I started feeling queasy yesterday, so I purposely ate nothing. I'm doing the same thing today, but it looks like I'll probably get it anyway.
WL WARRIOR 692 Posted December 25, 2014 I have always found Alka-Seltzer cold and flu to work the absolute best. Although it is totally off limits after sleeve surgery. You may want to try Claritan-D or a generic version of it.

BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 25, 2014 There's no a lot you can do today, but the usual drink plenty of fluids type of thing. If you ave any peppermint oil a drop of that in some tea will provide some relief. Gargling with salt Water may help your through feel better. Vick's vapor rub will help the congestion and help you sleep easier at night. If you can hold off until tomorrow, you should be able to call your doctor and see what otc meds he recommends. Luvin_Life125 558 Posted December 25, 2014 Mucinex has always been my go to for chest congestion. Sudafed (the real Sudafed that you now have to get from the pharmacist because they keep it locked up) is great for sinus/ nasal congestion. Liquid Nyquil/ Dayquil works for multiple symptoms. Delsym is amazing for a cough. All of these have been approved for me to use by my surgeon's office, but I would double check with your surgeon. If you are miserable I think it is reasonable for you to call and talk to the surgeon on call and see what is ok to take post op. Walgreen's may be open today in your area. I hope you feel better soon!
