Krispy Kreme purchase

Recommended Posts

So I was traveling yesterday and airports have always been huge eating venues for me. There's often these great restaurants and you've got hours of nothing to do...might as well eat (not to mention drink!) So I was doing laps in the SLC airport yesterday, drinking my bottled Water, trying not to think about food. I had only eaten 1/2 banana on my way to the airport 4 hours earlier and I really was hungry! I walked by the Cinnabon stand...oooo it smelled so good. Then here comes a Rocky Mountain chocolate Factory booth....mmmmm all those truffles! Next there was the Krispy Kreme display. I went over....pressed my nose longingly against the glass, staring at the donuts, trying to keep the drool in my mouth. And low and behold, on top of the counter, next to the cash register, was a display of Quest Bars! I picked out a chocolate brownie flavored one, paid the jacked up $3.50 and continued on my airport walkabout. What a good little bariatric patient I am!

Great job! I too avoided donuts yesterday. I bought 2 dozen for the people at work and didn't have 1/2 nor did I get my favorite ham & cheese croissant from the donut shop. They are my favorite.

Krispy Kreme?????? Oh, man............what pleasant memories of when I though sugar and grease were food groups. Congratulations on having the strength to resist. As my people say "You done real good."

So very admirable! I remember when my college town Springfield, MO) was celebrating the grand opening of its first Krispy Kreme restaurant. A week before this grand opening, they drove a van around town and gave away free Krispy Kreme doughnuts and pasteries. They were delicious! The customer line on their first day was out the door and down the street. I wish I had the same metabolism as I had back then. I can't even get by with just licking the icing off anymore. However, my cravings for sugar have diminished since I've gone without it for three months.

Congratulations to you. Wow. Fortunately donuts make me sick so I can jet right by Kristy Kremer.... but Rocky Mountain chocolate would have caused a panic attack.

I will keep your will power in mind as I face the overwhelming choices the next two days.

Good for you kindle. Did they wipe the drool off the display afterwards lol. I had a battle with cake the other day.

They must have put those Quest bars out just for you. How great that you have so much restraint and how lucky you were to find the Protein bars just when you needed them.

Protein snacks: never leave home without them.

Kuddos to Krispy Kreme for offering Quest bars for sale!

Well I only used my restraint until I got home. My diet over the last 24 hours has consisted of sugar, carbs and alcohol! And my reward is now cramping and nausea. Oh well....totally worth it! But now back to protein...

I thought I was the only one! I never like Krispy Kreme for that exact reason. I prefer cake donuts like Dunkin anywho. Well, I "preferred" Dunkin. I am scared to eat it and don't even crave em.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
