Fills in North Florida

Recommended Posts

So, I was banded in Monterrey, Mexico and I went back there for my last fill, which was great. I would love to do that again, but I really can't afford it right now, and I really need a fill. But, I'm having a hard time finding someone in North Florida to get the job done. There is a guy in Jacksonville, but he charges $600.00 on the first fill and then $350.00 thereafter. I would spend less going back to Monterrey.

Does anyone else in this are know of another option?

Thank you!

Silverwoman -

You can go thru fillcenterusa. I live in Georgia and have been to their Tampa office/Dr. Grossbard for my fill. You do pay an initial fee of $299 but after that your fills or $150 without fluro or $200 with fluro. They are great!! As a matter of fact Dr. Grossbard has the lapband himself. He and his partner both do the fills, first stick no problem and believe me that is not always true (had one done in Nashville, or should I say attempted to have one done, and after about 5 sticks I said "no more."

Oh, its good to know you've had a good experience with them! I've heard some discouraging things about other filcentersusa places. I knew there was one in Tampa, but I was afraid to go. Maybe I will give it a try!!!

Thank you!

I'm glad to hear also that the Tampa FillCenter is a good place for fills! I'm having surgery July 17th in Monterey and also can't return for fills because of $$$. I live in Central Florida (Winter Haven) and Tampa is only an hour drive. Please, if anyone has any advice to give me, Post-OP and Pre-Op, I would love to hear it!

What is a fill with Flouro?

I have not had a 1st fill yet and am wondering how they do it and what FLOURO is?

Thanks for your comments,

Flouro=Flouroscopy

Its basically a live x-ray. This way, when they give you the fill they can have you drink some whatever and actually see how much goes through the band and where your restriction is at. Its very cool!

And getting a fill is just like getting a shot. Its no big deal and usually takes 5 to 10 minutes.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
