Wray1 4 Posted July 31, 2015 Hi All,I have been reading your post off and on. Trying to get information to see if I should get the sleeve or bypass. I decided on the sleeve. Surgery was Monday 7/27 went home Tuesday 7/28. No pain or nausea. I have been very blessed having no problems this far. How ever the Vitamins are a lot to swallow. And trying to remember to drink Water, Protein Shakes and take medication take up a lot of time. I would like to thank everyone for their posts that helped me make my decision. dsheive 100 Posted July 31, 2015 Your new job for 2 weeks is to make sure you get your Protein and liquids. It does take a lot of time. But your teaching your new tummy how to behave,,vitamins flinstone chewable (not gummy) or put ice chips in your mouth with the Vitamin (I did that at hospital. Good luck in your new adventure
Dawn306 50 Posted August 3, 2015 Hi all, I'm 58 and tired of being fat. I'm scheduled for surgery August 12th. I had a bad day yesterday, and almost backed out. Nerves, I guess. Do we have a harder time of it, or more side effects, or do we heal slower than younger folks? My neighbor's daughter got her sleeve about 6 weeks ago, and she has had no problems and no regrets. I sure hope it will be the same for me!
Babbs 14,681 Posted August 3, 2015 @@Dawn306 From what I've seen, the older folks do just as well and heal just as quickly as the younger ones do. I'm 48 (47 when I had surgery) and had little pain and healed up great. I will tell you that weight loss can be a little slower with us "older" ladies. Not always. It was with me for sure. Dawn306 50 Posted August 4, 2015 Thanks Babs, I do know about the slower weight loss that happens with age. Post menopause for sure made a big change in my body and my metabolism. Thanks for your response. You are doing great! I will take inspiration from your success!

I sure hope it will be the same for me! I know exactly how you feel. I am also 58 yrs old, confident one minute and terrified the next. I worry constantly about the healing process as I have an autoimmune disease which may result in slower healing. Its getting real now as my coordinator is submitting my papers to insurance this week. But i know this is 100% the right thing to do and I have great confidence in my surgeon. Edited August 4, 2015 by Teesaa
Dawn306 50 Posted August 4, 2015 @@Teesaa Me too! I have IBS and fibromyalgia, and my husband is more concerned than me. He is afraid that it will contribute to all the things that give me grief now. I just hope for no complications and no leaks, and hope for the best.

Teesaa 30 Posted August 5, 2015 I believe this surgery may even help my Autoimmune disease. I am waiting every day for news from the coordinator to confirm that she has sent it to the insurance for approval but so far no news. Maybe tomorrow.
