Dull Pain and Fullness

Recommended Posts

I am day 9 post sleeve, since last 2 days, diarrhea has disappeared, instead now I have a dull pain in stomach and it feels full, specially in evening. As if the whatever I take is still in stomach and hasn't passed through. It has reduced my fluids too. At times I feel I want to burp, but can't. I am passing gas but no motion in last 2 days. Walking regularly but hasn't helped much.

Have you tried milk of magnesia? It will help clear you out in a gentle way :). Also, walking a lot has really helped clear up that feeling.

I feel your pain. I'm day 8 and can only have Clear Liquids. I tried to slowly advance and I felted bloated, full and miserable. Walking helped. But who wants to walk outside at 10 pm? Milk of mag cherry cream helped considerably. It took about 24 hours. I will probably take it a couple times a week so I won't get backed up. Gas x strips helped and so do Tums. I actually had acid reflux in the middle of the night. Where did that come from? It's not like I had a big slice of pizza before bed. Good luck and hang in there. Remember, are digestive systems are like a hour glass. Nothing goes down unless we are up!

Call your doctor. It sounds like you may need a PPI like Prilosec (omeprazole). He can either prescrie it for you or you can buy it over the counter.

I recently had my script increased. I now take one 40mg in the AM and I am good all day.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
