I posted a new blog after I returned from OCC (Obesity Control Center) to observe some surgeries. Some of the pictures might be a little too much for some - but if you want to see why a gastric sleeve really works, why it controls appetite and eating, but how much is really removed, it is a great educational opportunity. Happy reading!

again - a warning - there are pictures of the removed portion of the stomach after a gastric sleeve surgery... pretty awesome!

you would have to click on the link to my blog above and then the link to the pictures is there - you may have to cut and paste it as I don't think they are allowing a click through.

you can also go to occforum dot com and look at Lori's Blog there - the link to the pictures works from there.

Very cool! I had my sleeve done at OCC last December. Wished I could have had a DVD of the surgery, but when I asked, they said they couldn't record it. That would be a nice perk, though.

I just had my sleeve surgery last week, and while I've had minimal pain/discomfort, I still have momentary "what the hell did I just do" thoughts float through my head.

Seeing the size of the stomach section that is removed is just amazing - if my stomach was even half that size, then no wonder I couldn't get my portion sizing and ravenous hunger/binge eating under control - that is HUGE!

Thanks for posting these pics - it really puts it in perspective for me! :D

Great pics, such a nice, clean cut line. I wonder though, is that an average size stomach removal? Are there ones much bigger? I have a feeling that mine must've been a lot bigger than that...

Fabulous pix. Nothing like a picture to tell the story accurately.

That stomach actually looks enormous to me!

I too would like to know if it's average-sized or smaller or larger than usual.

You sure can see why we get so full immediately post-op. Compared to that sucker, our swollen little pencil-tube tummies are miniscule!

Thanks again.
