5 days PO and water is my enemy :(

Recommended Posts

I can not manage straight Water and things that are cold are not much better. I have had great success with herbal teas 1/2 packet of sweetener. (be careful about the sweetener - I found one did not do great things for my bowels). I let the teas cool until they are warm and not hot. I was warned to not have cinnamon in teas... no chai for me

I'm also wondering why no cinnamon. My winter spice tea has been soooo good to me in the morning. Please share.

I'll chime in as well. :) I'm 7wks today and Water still gives me fits. Dr said it's normal. And why no cinnamon? I do love my tea. It has been a great help in getting liquids down for sure. Hope today is a. Great day!

I have a really hard time with plain Water also. The only thing that goes down smoothly for me is propel water lemon flavored. That I can drink. It is really weird. Good luck!

Apparently cinnamon can irritate your freshly restructured tummy. At least that is what they said at the class. I stuck with organic fruit flavored teas. I really enjoy mint teas but they occasionally bother my new stomach

Why no cinnamon?

Cinnamon can have the same effect as Tomato based stuff and citrus. It can irritate new sleeves. I would think further down the line it would likely be fine but in the those early post op days, the acid would be painful

I'm at the same stage you are and I've decided that my problem with the Water is that I can't drink it slowly enough. I don't know why, but I just can't.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
