Hi all. Im new to posting on this site. I always read what everyone else posts and it has been extremely helpful.

I had my surgery 11/17/14. Everything went amazingly smooth and now finally have my energy back.

When i started the process i weighed 252. By using my fitness pal i got down to 230. Then my pre op diet got me to 225. And last night i weighed in at 199.1. So im quite happy.

I just wanted to introduce myself.

Wow!!! Awesome job! I had my surgery on 11/17 as well. You stats are similar to mine. I lost 14 pounds to start off, 16 pounds on pre-op diet. I weighed 304 on start date, 274 on day of surgery and today I weighed 255.3 So, I have lost 49.5 pounds total.

I am so happy for you to be under 200! That is an awesome milestone! I am hoping to be below 250 when I return back to school on 1/2 or at least when the kids return on 1/5.

That is great! I am waiting to rejoice in the under 200 lbs milestone. I am doing great with my weight loss, i feel really well, and I am finding new recipes to try daily.

Welcome to the group, this is a good place for encouragement.

Keep up the good work!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
